Issues: Growing Deficit

I believe the federal deficit is one of the single biggest threats to America today.

Since 1996 the federal budget has doubled to 3.6 trillion dollars, raising our debt at an alarming rate. The deficit this year alone is estimated to be 1.4 trillion dollars, three times larger than any one-year deficit in the history of the country.

Some estimates say four trillion dollars more will be added over the next five years!

Much of this debt, dangerously, is carried by countries that have not always had our nation’s best interest in mind.

I believe we need a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. I don’t take changing the Constitution lightly, but Harry Reid and his buddies in Congress have put our nation in a precarious position in the world economy with their unfettered spending of your money.

Harry Reid and the liberals who control the political process in Washington D.C. think they can “tax” their way to a balanced budget. They can’t.

I believe that while we can’t tax our way out of this mess, we can grow our way out. We need to cut spending and taxes to grow and expand the economy and to create high-quality, high-paying jobs.
